Default Kinetic Armor?

How do people feel about Kinetic Armor as opposed to say Armor of Earth? Is it easy to keep it up? Is it better for being up close in the fray? Give me our opinions.

Kinetic is a decent skill but usually Armor of Earth will out-weigh it due to the circumstances.

Kinetic armor can last alot longer than armor of earth IF kept up by casting skills such as stone daggers. Unfortunately, the cost of an unlimited duration is the fact it only blocks against physical damage and the defense is lower than that of Armor of Earth. (Also, the recharge time is a whole minute, meaning if it is removed or if you forget to cast a spell within 8 seconds, you'll have to wait a while to use it again).

Armor of earth lasts a set 30 seconds. The defense capabillities are quite high and are useful in quite a few builds (Warders and maybe monks). However, the drawback is the fact you'll lose some speed, which is not exactly wanted in circumstances such as a character fighting melee. It does possess a recharge time of only 15 seconds though, so you can recast it fairly quickly if it is to be removed.

Overall, I believe armor of earth is used more often than kinetic.

kinetic armour has been changed at some point, and gives general armour bonus too now.

I couldn't find a build that reliably cast every 8 seconds without devoting an additional skill slot to some sort of spammable that wasn't all that effective in its own right. At that point, Kinetic is basically taking up 2 skill slots.

Gimme a second so that I can build up my confidence to withstand the criticisms of "YOU Suk!11!!" from fellow w/mos.

Edit: Nevermind... I never bothered to unlock kinetic armor ._.

To me, this is the spell to use if you are looking for even more armor after armor of earth.

casting within 8 sec arent that hard (even without stone dagger and the sort)... especially every caster build should have at least some bit of energy management...

I usually save the space for obsidian flesh... but if i need the elite spot...

A decent elementalist should be able to cast every 8 seconds without too much difficulty for a fairly extended period of time. I'd use it in an air/earth build personally, something like:

Stone Daggers
Enervating Charge
Stoning
Aftershock
Lightning Orb/Whirlwind/Chain lightning/Lightning Strike
Kinetic Armor
Earth/Air Attunement (or Aura of Restoration)
Ether Renewal

Basically, just use kinetic armor at the start of battle, along with either your attunement or restoration. Then use stoning/enervating combos/aftershock combos or something. When you get low on energy, ether renewal and spam stone daggers.

no, no it doesn't, since your not 'casting' it after the first cast, you dont do extra dmg.
I'm suprised nobody knew that as E/Mo soloing seems to be pretty popular. I dislike solo-farming though, got bored after a few rounds

I really dislike the high casting time on this skill; as a defensive mechanism you want it back up as soon as possible after it ends or is stripped off, this works fine with Armor of Earth (at 3/4th casting time) but Kinetic Armor will take 3 seconds, which is easily interrupted and offers no protection while you're still casting.

If you are going to use E/Mo as a healer or protector w/ether regen, Kinetic armor is the way to go. You will be spamming low cost and useful spells so why the hell not.

kinetic armor is bad for monk, because your energy doesnt allow you to spamm lowcost spells, go for earth armor if you want defensive earth skills, or wards against melee, but forget about Kinetik.

Back when I was a Earth ele, I usually ran Armor of Earth, Kinetic Armor and Obsidian Flesh (I was a ultimate tank indeed). Problem with Kinetic Armor is that you might not notice it when it's about to go out. 8 seconds might seem like a lot of time not to cast a spell in, but it goes by much faster than you think. If you wait a few seconds to regen some mana for a big spell, it might go out.

If you aim for the largest armor possible, as I did, then you will want Kinetic Armor. But if you want a standalone armor boost for when a Warrior starts beating on you, Armor of Earth makes a MUCH, MUCH bigger difference. When I forked into water, I quickly ditched Kinetic Armor for Armor of Frost.

yey armor of frost with the other water armor together is pretty cool, but way too high recharge, thats why I prefer earth armor, you can recast it all over the time, which isnt possible with water skills.

Water skills are the best of all, just the recharge is way too high, which makes them go a bit useless if you're in trouble.

I use Armor of Earth and Kinetic armor on my monk in CA. Extra 108 armor for 30 seconds then its down to just 60. I just spam 5 energy spells to keep it up and run around while all the enemies do 1s and 2s to me. I went on a 20 win streak with that build
